Barry’s departure to pastures new, which include family time; long walks; an Open University Course and playing the saxophone!

This week we have said a sad farewell to Barry Granger, who has been a long standing and valuable member of the Astra Team since the company was founded 15 years ago.

Barry joined Astra back in 2007, as a Service Manager, and since then has developed and grown his role and responsibilities to see him more latterly look after NSI accreditation, engineer resource and relationship management. 

His time with Astra has allowed him to see the company grow both in its client base and relationships;  the range of services and products they offer as well as the expansion of premises and the team of employees.

Barry said:

“I’ll miss the day-to-day involvement of interaction, the mediating to problem-solve and being able to support the wider team in providing market leading provision for our clients.”

He went on to say:

“Astra has been a great employer, which has supported me, allowed me to work in an open and trusting environment, and more recently adapted to my flexible working requirements. Early retirement will allow me to spend more time with family, especially my grandchildren. I also look forward to continuing with my football coaching; venturing and exploring long walks; revisiting an Open University Course and playing the saxophone (badly).”

Paul Beet, Managing Director at Astra Security, and one of the founding members of the company said:

“Saying goodbye to Barry this week leaves me with mixed feelings. Of course, we will be very sad to lose a loyal, hardworking and key member of the team. But, knowing that he is going to be fulfilling his retirement plans and has lots of activities on his list is really positive. It’s also great that we have supported him over the last 15 years with a variety of development and training opportunities, as well as being able to provide flexible working arrangements to meet his changing personal circumstances. We all wish Barry the very best of luck and wish him well in his retirement. He will be sorely missed.”
