Ongoing commitment to staff health and wellbeing
As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, Astra shows it’s commitment to Mental Health at Work
As part of our health and wellbeing programme for staff, we will continue our ongoing commitment to mental health.
Last year, we signed up to Time to Change (a national campaign supporting mental health), which has now ended. And, in order to maintain the focus and continue the great work we started, we are transitioning our support by signing up to the Mental Health at Work Programme.
This Programme is based around six core standards, which are designed to help develop and implement best practice for good mental health in the workplace. It is supported by MIND as well at the Royal Foundation.
The programme is made up of the following 6 standards, which we will integrate within our overall health and wellbeing programme:-
- Prioritise mental health in the workplace by developing and delivering a systematic programme of activity
- Proactively ensure work design and organisational culture drive positive mental health outcomes
- Promote an open culture around mental health
- Increase organisational confidence and capability
- Provide mental health tools and support
- Increase transparency and accountability through internal and external reporting
Sarah Steer, General Manager at Astra Security said, “It’s more important than ever to maintain the consistent focus on mental health, and we made a great start last year through Time to Change. This year, we will be introducing a ‘well-being bundle’ for all staff, which will be made up of a range of wellbeing e learning courses. These include mindfulness, resilience, sleep essentials, mental health awareness & covid 19 anxiety.” Sarah went on to say, “It’s in everyone’s best interests to have a healthy, all inclusive, open culture with improved morale and open and honest discussions about physical and mental health.”
Astra Security have a range of initiatives in place as part of their overall health and wellbeing programme for staff, which includes optional Monday fitness sessions for all staff; an ongoing Employee Assistance programme; Flexible Working; Cyclescheme and a lunchtime running club.
