Astra Security Goes Green (literally) for October, making their own extra commitment to sustainability.

For the month of October, Astra Security will be shining a light on sustainability. As a company, they are committed to doing their best in protecting the planet and taking responsibility to achieve environmental best practice in all places of work. And, to kick off their campaign, they have put in place a new way of working to reduce waste in their offices in Yate, Bristol.

We are all very aware of the shocking facts about Plastic Pollution, as not a day goes by without a stark fact being thrown out from a news bulletin.

…. And thankfully,  so many of us are taking steps to reduce our use of plastic and recycle it.
That’s exactly what the team here at Astra Security are doing.  They are making a positive step to actively reduce the amount of waste they produce in their office in Bristol.

By changing the way they dispose of their rubbish and getting staff to think about what they are buying, bringing to work and throwing away will all start to make a difference.
Sarah Steer, General Manager at Astra Security said ‘ It’s a responsibility we all have to take. The problem isn’t going to go away and  anything we can do to reduce waste can only be a positive step forward.   We’ve removed the bins which were previously under the desks, and waste must now be taken to the kitchen for recycling wherever possible.  We’ve put in place a system to split out the glass, plastic and cardboard, as well as the food and general waste.’  She went on to add ‘It will make everyone think a bit more about the waste they are producing each day.  It’s surprising to see that doing this has already started to have an impact on not only reducing the waste but making sure it’s being recycled’.

From blue to green…… Astra Security showing their commitment to the environment – they’ve even created a version of their logo in green as part of this campaign.

Acting Sustainably is important to Astra Security
Steve Bird, Operations Director at Astra Security added ‘We all have a duty of care, both on an individual and personal level, as well as from a business perspective too.  It is the biggest issue that we are all having to face into and do something positive about it. This recent initiative  serves as a reminder on a day to day basis, on how we can all do our bit to help save the planet. Here at Astra we have an existing commitment and a policy in place for Protecting the Environment and take these issues very seriously.  All of our employees accept responsibility and will strive to achieve environmental best practice in all places of work’.  Steve continued ‘Many of our clients have ongoing long-term sustainability initiatives in place, and we are no different.  We take environmental issues and factors into account in planning and developing all new and existing operations.’
