Astra passes NSI Audit with flying colours, using remote and onsite activity

Last week Astra Security underwent their audit with the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), however, with the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic, the way the audit was carried out was different to usual.

NSI suspended all their audit activity from the start of April due to lockdown but have now resumed their core audit and assessments using a new programme strategy, which includes a combination of remote and onsite audit capability. This means that the audit is carried out in two chunks, with the remote aspect taking place separately to any onsite inspection.

To meet the high standards, Astra must successfully demonstrate the following:-

  • Meet the technical requirements needed and meet all relevant British Standards
  • Operate a Quality Management System and be compliant with BS EN 9001
  • Provide a high level of staff training and supervision to industry best practice standards
  • Be comprehensively insured to protect customers and staff
NSI are an independent and impartial assessment body, auditing both technical standards and management systems.

Richard Jenkins, Chief Executive of the NSI said “A blended audit strategy involving both on-site and remote elements ensures no missing pieces in the certification jigsaw.” He went on to add “Astra’s gold approval gives assurance that the highest standards of competence are being provided.”
