Astra continues commitment to its ‘green’ focus

This week is Zero Waste Week, so an ideal time for me to catch up on how we’re doing here at Astra Security on ‘all things green’.

2020-09-08

Last October, we made a commitment to focus on sustainability and put extra practices in place by introducing new ways of working to help reduce the amount of waste produced in the Bristol office.

The good news is that we continue to operate the systems we put in place last year.

A year ago, we changed the way we disposed of all our rubbish and got staff to think about what they are buying, bringing to work, and throwing away. And, we’re delighted that staff are still continuing to monitor in this way. Our waste continues to be managed effectively, splitting out all the glass, plastic, and cardboard, as well as the food and general waste.

With the impact of COVID 19 some of our staff have been working from home, this has had an impact by reducing our carbon omissions. And, we continue to use eco friendly products in the office daily.

Steve Bird, Operations Director at Astra Security said “We all continue to have a responsibility both on an individual and personal level, as well as from a business perspective too. We have an ongoing commitment and a policy in place for Protecting the Environment and take these issues very seriously. All of our staff accept responsibility and strive to achieve environmental best practice in all places of work.” Steve continued, “Many of our clients have ongoing long-term sustainability initiatives in place and we are no different. We take environmental issues and factors into account in planning and developing all new and existing operations.”
